What is the process of extrusion molding of aluminum profiles?
 
Aluminum Extrusion molding is a common metal processing method, by the heated aluminum alloy material through the mold extrusion to form the required cross-section shape of the profile. The following is a detailed aluminum extrusion process:
 
1. Prepare raw materials
Select the right aluminum alloy: According to the performance requirements of the final product (such as strength, corrosion resistance, etc.), select the appropriate aluminum alloy raw materials. Commonly used alloys include 6061, 6063, etc.
Cutting and preheating: Aluminum alloy bars or ingots are cut to a length suitable for extruder use and preheated before extrusion, usually to 400-500°C.

2. Prepare the extrusion mold
Mold design and manufacturing: According to the required profile section shape and size, design and manufacture the corresponding extrusion mold. Molds are usually made of high-strength steel and can withstand high temperatures and pressures.
Mold preheating: In order to reduce the impact of temperature differences on the extrusion process, the mold also needs to be preheated to a certain temperature (usually 450-500°C).
3. Extrusion process
Loading and propulsion: The preheated aluminum alloy material is placed in the container of the extruder, and the hydraulic system is used to push the plunger to push the material forward.
Extrusion through the die: When the material is pushed into the die cavity, it is extruded through the hole of the die under high temperature and pressure to form a profile with the desired cross section shape.
Continuous extrusion: For long profiles, the extrusion process is continuous, and the profiles will continue to extend from the mold outlet.
4. Cool and set
Cooling: Newly extruded profiles need to be cooled quickly to fix their shape. Air cooling, water cooling or other cooling methods can be used, depending on the material and product requirements.
Straightening and straightening: During the cooling process, the profile may be bent or twisted, so it needs to be corrected by a straightener or straightener to ensure straightness and flatness.

5. Cutting and subsequent processing
Cutting: Cutting continuously produced profiles to specified lengths according to customer requirements.
Surface treatment: Surface treatment according to product requirements, such as anodizing, electrophoretic coating, sandblasting, etc., to enhance corrosion resistance, aesthetics and functionality.
6. Quality inspection
Size check: Use calipers, micrometers and other tools to check the dimensional accuracy of profiles to ensure that they meet the design requirements.
Appearance inspection: Check whether the surface of the profile has cracks, bubbles, scratches and other defects.
Mechanical properties test: If necessary, hardness test, tensile test, etc., to verify whether the mechanical properties of the material are up to standard.
7. Packaging and delivery
Cleaning and packaging: After thorough cleaning, use appropriate packaging materials to protect the profiles from damage during transportation.
Marks and labels: Add the necessary brand identity, specifications and other information.
Key technical points
Temperature control: In the entire extrusion process, the precise control of the temperature of the material and the mold is crucial, too high or too low temperature will affect the quality of the product.
Pressure management: A stable pressure is required during the extrusion process to ensure that the profiles are formed evenly and without defects.
Mold maintenance: Regular inspection and maintenance of molds to prevent product quality problems caused by wear or damage.
