Aluminum profile surface drawing process

Drawing can eliminate scratches, abrasions, and machining knife marks on aluminum alloy profiles. The degree of elimination is related to the depth of wire drawing. Generally speaking, the greater the depth of wire drawing, the stronger the ability to eliminate physical defects on the surface of aluminum alloy. But for high demand wire drawing treatment, it is necessary to use pre-treatment such as polishing or buffing to eliminate surface defects of the workpiece before wire drawing, especially for shallow drawn filaments. In addition to eliminating surface defects on aluminum alloy workpieces as mentioned above, a more important function of wire drawing is to improve the texture of metal materials and provide a strong decorative effect to enhance the aesthetic appearance of products. This is also a commonly used decorative method at present. In recent years, wire drawing has been widely used for shell decoration of various electronic products, such as laptop panels, keyboards, phone panels, and other digital product related components.

The surface drawing of aluminum alloy is carried out using a drawing machine. For small flat workpieces, a flat pressure sand belt drawing machine can be used. This drawing method can be selected based on the surface requirements of the product. Coarse grained sand belts can be used to process rough and tactile threads, while fine-grained sand belts can be used to process finer threads. For small workpieces, a simpler structured scratching machine can also be used, and the thickness of the wire can also be controlled according to the size of the grinding block. For large workpieces or plates, roller brush drawing or wide sand belt drawing can also be used. The sandblasting or wire drawing discussed above not only provide decoration but also serve to conceal surface defects of aluminum alloy workpieces. For sandblasting and wire drawing, wire drawing is more likely to conceal surface defects of aluminum alloy workpieces. For deep wire drawing patterns, it even allows for obvious scratches, abrasions, and other mechanical processing marks on the surface of the workpiece. Sandblasting, on the other hand, only allows minor scratches, abrasions, etc. For workpieces with obvious mechanical processing marks, they should be pre polished or polished before sandblasting treatment.

Workpieces that have undergone wire drawing may exhibit both positive and negative surfaces during alkali etching (i.e., varying shades of flower spots on the surface of the workpiece under certain angles of light), mainly due to material reasons. Pre etching with alkali or acid before wire drawing can alleviate or prevent such phenomena from occurring.
