The Use and Maintenance of Aluminum Alloy Profile Extrusion Tools and Dies

December 15, 2024
(1) Use advanced instruments and meters to detect the dimensional accuracy, hardness, and surface roughness of molds online and offline. Register the molds that have passed the inspection and acceptance, put them on the shelves in the warehouse, take out the polishing mold hole working belt when in use, and assemble and inspect the guide mold, profile mold, and mold pad. When confirmed to be correct, send them to the machine for heating;

(2) The heating temperature regulations for the tool and mold before installation are as follows: extrusion cylinder: 400-450 ℃, extrusion pad: 350 ℃, mold pad: 350-400 ℃, flat mold: 450-470 ℃, splitter mold: 460-480 ℃, and the insulation time is calculated based on the thickness of the mold (1.5-2 minutes/mm);

(3) The heating time of the mold in the furnace should not exceed 10 hours. If the time is too long, the working zone of the mold hole is prone to corrosion or deformation;

(4) At the beginning stage of aluminum alloy profile extrusion, it is necessary to slowly apply pressure because the impact force is likely to cause mold blockage. If there is a blockage in the mold, the machine should be stopped immediately to prevent the mold hole working belt from being crushed;

(5) After the mold is unloaded, it should be cooled to 150-180 ℃ before being placed in the alkali tank for boiling, as the mold is prone to cracking due to the impact of heat waves when boiled at high temperatures. Advanced etching methods should be adopted to recover and save alkali solution, shorten corrosion time, and achieve pollution-free cleaning;
5
(6) When assembling the splitter mold, the repairman should gently shake it with a copper rod and not use a large iron hammer to strike it hard, to avoid excessive force and damaging the mold;

(7) Before nitriding the mold, the working zone of the mold hole needs to be carefully polished to a surface roughness of Ra0.8-0.4 μ m;

(8) Before nitriding the mold, it is required to be cleaned thoroughly and no oil stains are allowed to enter the furnace; The nitriding process should be reasonable (depending on the equipment characteristics and mold materials), and the surface hardness after nitriding should be HV900-1200. If the nitriding layer is too thick or hard, it will cause the nitriding layer to peel off. A set of molds generally allows nitriding 3-5 times; The complex high magnification tooth radiator profile mold does not undergo nitriding process;

(9) New molds, bar molds, and round tube molds for old products can be directly nitrided without trial molding; New products and complex profile molds must pass the trial mold before undergoing nitriding treatment;

(10) After the new mold trial is qualified, up to 10 ingots should be extruded and then unloaded from the machine for nitriding treatment to avoid pulling the working belt out of the groove; Excessive production is not allowed between two nitriding processes. Generally, 60-100 ingots are suitable for flat molds and 40-80 ingots for split molds. Excessive production may cause the nitride layer to be pulled through.

(11) After polishing the used mold, it should be stored in the oiling warehouse.
